Nasab Nameh
(the lineage)
Of  The Ne’matullahi Safialishahi Sufi Order

Once again I offer my praises to the Real
And upon the soul of the prophets and the people of wonder
First, praises be upon the pure soul of Adam
Who is the holy purity of God
And upon the prophet of God, Noah, and also
The friend, his holiness Abraham of the fire
And upon the chaste spirit of Jesus
Upon each of the prophets of God in turn
From Adam to the Seal of Prophets
To the Companions and His illustrious Family
Who are His offspring, vicegerents and successors
`Ali who is the anchor of the Throne and Universe
Also, upon his mate and faithful friend
Illimitable salutations from the Real, the Living and Supreme God
Be upon Zahra and the Sibtaiyn (Hasan and Hussain), and Haydar, the Lion of God
Once again upon `Ali [Zaynu’l Abidin] and Muhammad [al-Baqir]
To Jafar who is the supple sylvan of the garden of Ahmad
Praises from the Real without interruption, and again
Be upon the purifying spirit of Musa ibn Jafar
And upon `Ali [ar-Rida] the offspring of Musa
Who is the supreme Pole and resplendent Sun
Greetings and salutations, also
Be upon [Muhammad] at-Taqi and [Muhammad] al-Naqi in excellence,
Also, upon [Hasan al-]Askari, Sultan and possessor of assistance/victory
Again, upon the Mahdi/the one rightly Guided upon the religion, the possessor of the Aeon,
These twelve are the kings and Imams,
Also, upon all the friends/saints and people of unity
Who from the Real received their completion and assistance
Especially those who are princes/descendents (i.e. of the Prophet) and complete,
From their names are all the lineages sealed,
Kamil, Adham, Tayfur and Maruf,
Each one has the secret of unity unveiled,
All on the Path are Pirs and Masters
And from them began this form of guidance,
After Maruf was Shaykh Sari al-Din
Who was a fish upon the shield of leadership
Junayd after him became the Pole of the world
The guide and exemplar of the Gnostics did he become,
After him Abu `Ali Rudbari
Who became the goodly Master of the time from the generosity of Bari,
After him came Abu `Ali Katib
From the Master of Rudbari a deputy,
After him Sheykh Abu Umran became manifest
From the Maghrib (the west) the light of the Mashriq (east) shone,
Abu’l-Qasim after him became the designee of the Real
Who took Gurgani as his seal,
After him Abu Bakr is the possessor of the taj
Whose name was Abdu’llah Nassaj,
After him Ahmad came in the highest degree,
Who is called by the people of unity Ghazzali,
Next Abu’l-Fazl is the Master of guidance
Whose origin is from the city of Baghdad,
And from him Abu’l-Barakat became the spirit of the Real,
And after him Abu Sa’id Andalusi
Next came Abu Madyan the Maghribi,
Since from the Orient of unity appeared the Sun,
His witness on the Path was Abu’l-Futuh
Who was the possessor of the khirqa and wise in spirit,
After him came Kamaluddin Kufi
Who was the Pole of his time and Pir of the Sufis,
Also, from the people of Berber, Shaykh Salih
Who was victorious over the gates of meaning,
Next Yafi’i became the knowing Sheykh of the era,
With name and manner of the elect servant of God,
And after him Ne`matollah obtained the khirqa,
He who is the absolute Guide upon this Path,
Anyone who denies this name and designee,
Rejects Yafi’i and forsakes adab,
And curses be upon the one fettered to the path of emulation,
Who out of ignorance forsakes the people of unity
Although Ne`matollah himself appears vaunting
Over Sheykh Yafi’i, yet far is it from contention,
In short Ne`matollah Wali after Sheykh Yafi’i became the Pole of the world,
And Khalilullah who is the proof of religion,
Is his Father’s successor on the Path,
And in this Path Muhib al-Din Habibullah
Also became a vestige of Ne`matollah,
And Kamal al-Din is his remembrance
Who is the third generation removed from that Sovereign,
Also the Pole of the world in essence
After him became Khalilullah the second,
And after him Mir Shamsuddin like a bright moon
Say, shone brightly, without doubt,
Next manifested Habibullah the second
From the circulation of the heart like the celestial moon,
And then Shamsuddin the second became king
Who was an architect of gnosis and Pir,
Next Kamal al-Din the second possessed the crown,
A possessor of mysteries of the Path,
After him Shah Shamsuddin the third,
From father and grandfather a heir he became,
The khirqa next reached Shah Mahmoud
Then to Sheykh Shamsuddin Masud,
And `Ali Shah Reza who was his khalifa
Appeared in Deccan, and due to ill pension
With known reason was sent to Iran
And a king he was that Sultan Masum
Who both passed the khirqa to Nur `Ali,
That king of the circular moon of guidance,
And also to Hussein Sheykh Zayn al-Din who took the frock
He who in degree became the Guide of creation,
After him Majzub `Ali was Pir,
In his time both saint and Pole,
Then to Zayn’ul-Abidin Shirvani
This khirqa reached with manner and indication
And from him Rahmat `Ali became the possessor of might,
Who in Shiraz became the possessor of height,
And Safi attained the favour of his service and
In his Mercy found a portion of good portion within his soul.
